More Than Flowers is 6 months old!

Well time is flying and it is only 13 more days to Christmas but, more importantly before that, in 4 days time, More Than Flowers will reach the grand old age of 6 months old. Twelve months ago I had no inkling of the twist my life was going to take. I was busy on the last days of countdown to an early retirement from teaching that had been my life for more than 30 years! A few floristry sessions at The Hedgerow florist, Threshfield in early January was something that I thought would give me an interest in my retirement as I had beeen so busy teaching having an interest couldn't even enter the equation! Wow what an impact this had and I suddenly found out I had a talent I didn't know I had! Then after taking more courses in floristry and floral art, working with the Chamber of Commerce and the Enterprise Allowance on business plans etc I am here and so is More Than Flowers! One thing it does prove is the old addage you are never to old to learn! Setting up a business has been a very mixed time although there has been more ups than downs when I have occasionally questioned the whole endeavour. This is usually when I am doing my end of month accounts and realise I have spent more than I have actually received but that is because I am building up a stock of ribbons, wrapping, wires, Christmas rings for wreaths etc. and one day someone will want a corsage with a ribbon I have already got instead of having to go out and buy another roll of a new colour! Times when all my tools, flowers and everything are all over and my husband comes home and I realise it's tea time already and I still have to finish before either of us can get into the kitchen to make tea! Thankfully he has been very patient and supportive (most of the time anyway!). Times when I haven't any orders and don't know if I will get one but usually when this happens suddenly the phone rings or I get a facebook message and business comes alive again. On that note I would like to give BIG, BIG THANKS to everyone for their very valued custom over the last 6 months. I always feel greatly uplifted too by all your wonderful comments on facebook and the complements you and the tutors have paid me when I see you and especially when I deliver. Thank you very much for this too so, please keep on liking, sharing and commenting, I really apprieciate it. I would like to raise a glass to another 6 months of More Than Flowers and I am looking forward to us making our first birthday next June.
