Autumn days when the grass is jewelled...

Suddenly the days are changing after a long and beautiful summer once it got going! The flowers still look stunning as the rain and wind hasn't yet ravaged them and the beautiful colours of Autumn are more than making up for the darker, colder nights! A blessing at my age when it gets cooler in the night and I shall say no more on that but some of you can probably relate!! The clear night sky is changing too with different constellations coming into view. Orion, the hunter with his belt and sword shines proudly in front of my house like it is protecting us! There is the meteorite shower that is due over the next week or two which again is nature in its full glory! Thinking about Autumn and natures glory at this time I love it when the grass is jewelled but more impressively the spider's webs in the garden are magnificent and even at my age this still brings out the awe and wonder in me, as does opening a conker and seeing the velvety lining and the beautiful shine on the new dark chestnut brown conker inside which is being seen for the very first time as the shell splits into thirds. Such treasure is often over looked in the busy lives we lead today. Collecting natures fall for an arrangement I made, though, gave me the opportunity to witness this once again and took me back to my teaching days collecting for my Autumn display ( one of my favourite displays ) The hues of gold, brown and orange make this season so rich and colourful as do the celebrations we have to look forward too. Which reminds me, have a wonderful Autumn and now I had better get cracking and start my Halloween flowers... oh and think about Christmas flowers!! ps you do too so if you need any flowers over this season you know where I am!
